<p>One of the best <strong>NLP</strong> techniques to create rapport is known as matching and mirroring. This NLP technique involves copying someone’s behavior and values in order to form rapport with that person.</p>
<p>You have probably seen plenty of examples when people are not in rapport. Watch for example a panel discussion where one person holds conservative political views and the other liberal. You will see that they are certainly not in rapport with each other. The way they talk will be different, the pitch of their voice, their body language and of course their values couldn’t be more different.</p>
<p>Then watch a couple who are in love, and the way that they relate to each other.</p>
<p>There is an effortlessness to people who are in love in the way that they move in sync with each other. When one goes to hold the other persons hand, it is right there waiting for them. They talk easily and comfortably with the other person, and nothing seems forced.</p>

<p>People don’t think much about their own body language. So if you observe them, and then start to subtly copy them, it is very unlikely that the other person will notice. Remember the matching and mirroring technique always begins with observation.</p>
<p>Once you have started to mirror their physical behavior. Notice the tone of voice and speed at which they speak. This is very important because if you are a person who talks very loudly and your customer talks very quietly it is easy to upset them. It is up to you as the salesperson to adjust your behavior to theirs.</p>

<p>Would you rather be effective and successful? Or act the way you always do and be unsuccessful? I would say that a successful salesperson will choose the former every time.</p>
<p>So alter first the volume you are speaking to match the other person. Then either speed up or slow down your speech so that you are speaking at the same speed as the other person.</p>
<p>Once you have established the same body language and speech patterns as the customer. Next you want to mirror their breathing.</p>
<p>There is something very important about breathing that reaches us at a very primitive level. If you are breathing in time with someone you are almost certainly in rapport with them. Along with this you want to match the other persons overall energy levels. If the other person is highly energetic then you may need to up your own energy levels. Generally with sales people it’s the other way around. You are a bundle of energy and the customer is more reserved.</p>
<p>Slow yourself down and operate at the customer’s energy level.</p>
<p>The great thing is once you have created rapport with someone using these NLP techniques, you can start to lead the other person.You must make sure that you have actually established rapport before you begin leading. Once you have that rapport, you can start to control the flow of the conversation.</p>
<p>Experiment with leading by altering your body movements and see if the other person follows you. If not you may have to build further rapport before you can lead.</p>

Try and understand things from their point of view. It is vital that you understand the client before they understand you.</p>
<p>One key to doing this is learning how to pace. Pacing is about keeping in step with the other person. It is about really listening to them and seeing where they are coming from. You need to be patient with people. Don’t try and force your opinion quickly upon them because it won’t be effective.</p>
<p>You also need to be respectful of your client’s time, their relationships and their money.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>Which one should I choose for my business?</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Well, for starters, mobile apps are cool and thanks to the Apple iPhone and Google Android app stores, they are easier than ever to access and download. You will need to develop a different version of your app for each major mobile operating system though — about 4 or 5 of these at the moment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">On the other hand, a properly designed mobile website can be viewed on pretty much any mobile device that has web access. You can’t do as much with them as you could with an app though, since they rely on web technologies and don’t have access to all the fancy built-in-features that an app running natively on your handset will have — stuff like the camera, GPS module, address book. There’s always a catch.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">The best option will depend on your business. We can’t give you the answer, but we can hopefully give you some helpful advice before you go spending any of that critical marketing budget. Ignore the hype, forget about the cool factor and consider the following important points before making your decision — Need. Audience. Budget.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Before starting out it is worth writing down your list of reasons for creating a mobile app or mobile website for your business. Think about what you would like to achieve and what you would like your product to do.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Are you trying to create a potential new revenue stream? Are you looking for new ways to promote your business? Are you targeting other businesses or consumers? How do customers access your existing products and services? Will your product display interactive content or will it be used as a static information portal? How often will you be updating content? <p><span style="font-size: medium;">If your existing website is relatively static but you would like to enhance your online presence and get the benefits of mobile advertising, consider a mobile website. Site visitors coming from mobile ad clicks will get a good first impression of your business when they are presented with easily readable information formatted nicely for their mobile phone.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">If your product is for fun, is highly interactive, is intended as a standalone marketing tool or revenue generator, is designed to be used offline, or requires users to regularly access large video or media files it probably makes more sense to go down the mobile app route.</span></p>

If it has more dynamic content with lots of bells and whistles, don’t be tempted to just replicate each page. Limit your site to the pages that will transfer well to smaller mobile screens.</span></p>

<p>The update provides access to Apple’s new breed of interactive textbooks, which are aimed at high school students and will cost $14.99 each. To help populate the store, the company has also launched a suite of digital publishing tools for authors. Phil Schiller, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Marketing, revealed the company’s plans this morning.</p>
<p>Apple’s new digital textbooks are available through the iBookstore and feature much more rich and interactive components than past, consumer-focused e-books. In a demo at a press event in New York City, the company demoed a science textbook complete with video, rich graphics, multitouch support and thumbnail-based navigation.</p>

<p>Textbooks sold through iBooks 2 allow for a far more interactive learning experience than their paper counterparts. Glossary terms can be looked up instantly, the index of each book contains links to the appropriate sections and each chapter closes out with an interactive Q&amp;A for students.</p>
<p>Books can come with built-in flash cards for memorization as well as any additional multimedia or Web-based resources that could aide in the learning process.</p>
<p>To bring this new initiative to market, Apple partnered with textbook publishers Pearson, McGraw Hill and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Initially, the textbooks will largely be geared toward high school students, but it sounds like there are plans to expand to other levels of education in time.</p>
<h4>Fulfilling Steve Jobs’ Vision</h4>

<p>The demonstration very much echoed Jobs’ vision for textbooks, which he saw as cumbersome, heavy and slow to update. By contrast, the iPad is portable, interactive and of course quite easy to update with new information.</p>
<p>To that end, Apple is also rolling out a new application for the Mac that enables authors to easily build interactive textbooks using a drag-and-drop, WYSIWYG interface. iBooks Author for OS X supports everything from simple text to interactive graphics and allows authors to weave the Web into their publications using JavaScript and HTML5 add-ons.</p>
<p>Apple also unveiled a new iTunes U app, which gives teachers more digital tools to stay organized and communicate with their students.</p>
<p>This is not an all together shocking direction for Apple to move into, considering its somewhat recent foray into e-books with iBooks and how the iPad is already being used for educational purposes.</p>
<p>That the tablet form factor makes for a potentially excellent educational tool is not at all a new concept, and it’s one that Apple has already been using to help sell the iPad pretty much since day one.</p>

As the self publisher moves closer to the publishing deadline, the inevitable issue arrives: what about the book’s cover?</p>
<p>Before you jump on in and start designing a cover, you need to know both your target market and the methods by which you intend to publish. Are you going to have a PDF book, a Kindle eBook or a self published book via a print on demand printer? Maybe you will choose a combination of all three.</p>
<p>If you are already a master of Photoshop software you might not need too much help in the cover design area. <p><strong>The right genre</strong></p>

<p>A nonfiction book cover should be closer to simple than complicated as this is how almost all books look in your local book store (if you can still find one). You, like your customers, will have preconceived ideas about what covers should look like.</p>
<p>If you are selling a service, the cover needs to tell your customers that you can be trusted.</p>
<p><strong>Which font?</strong></p>
<p>Deciding which font to use is not any easier than choosing the right genre. Go to your favourite online bookstore and see what covers people use in your chosen genre. This will show you which fonts are used and which are avoided.</p>
<p>You need to think ahead to which method of book delivery you will be using. Your cover has to be as readable in a one inch thumbnail version on Amazon as on a full size PDF edition. Your customer must be able to read the title, subtitle and author’s name.</p>
<p>If you have included a picture as well, this must all be easy on the eye for each cover size.</p>
<p>Some fonts work well for vampire mysteries, but won’t be of much use for an SEO content eBook. Use of a vampire friendly font on your SEO book will lead your customers to click away from your website quite quickly. Clear and easy to read fonts work much better than fancy fonts.</p>
<p><strong>Nonfiction essentials</strong></p>
<p>If you are preparing a nonfiction book or eBook, your customer will need to know why you are the chosen expert in the subject. What qualifications do you need to display to impress your reader? Only if you are a well known celebrity can you write on a subject you cannot profess to be an expert in, otherwise your customer will not have confidence in purchasing from you.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, if you can prove you have made a half million dollars with your SEO plans, that alone will be sufficient to show your readers that you know what you are talking about. You do not need to be a doctor or a former President to show your skills.</p>
<p>Bullet points are often used by nonfiction writers to list 4–6 main points to introduce the reader to what they will be buying. Use them effectively.</p>
<p><strong>The blurb</strong></p>
<p>Once you have looked at a book in a store, you always turn to the back to see what the book is really about. This is your one and only chance to impress your potential reader to open their wallet for their credit card. Make it pull them into the inside pages. Just 100 to 300 words will do.</p>
<p>Also… don’t be tempted to include a picture of your face unless it’s a nonfiction book. Wait until you are well known.</p>
<p>Finally; don’t forget the ISBN number and coded box to enable real print sales. Without it, offline stores won’t stock your book and online stores might struggle to list it.</p>
